Shannon Brereton MFTI (She/Her)
Shannon is a warm, curious, and culturally aware Marriage and Family therapist passionate about supporting individuals, couples, and families as they navigate life’s challenges. Grounded in the belief that meaningful change is possible through building healthy support systems within the client's self and community, Shannon provides a collaborative, affirming space where clients can feel seen, heard, and empowered to grow.
Drawing from Bowen Family Systems Theory and Narrative Therapy, Shannon helps clients explore family dynamics, multigenerational patterns, and emotional systems that influence their experiences. She encourages emotional awareness, self-differentiation, and healthier relationships, guiding clients to reframe their stories, honor their lived experiences, and discover hidden strengths. Her approach emphasizes cultural humility and inclusivity. She is committed to offering trauma-informed, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and socially conscious care to marginalized communities.
Shannon earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Folklore. She is completing her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy at National University, where she has consistently made the Dean’s List each semester. Her focus areas include trauma recovery, identity exploration, relationship dynamics, and intergenerational healing.
Outside of therapy, Shannon enjoys listening to stories of all kinds, especially those involving cryptids and horror themes. She also enjoys attending concerts.
